Experimental Candy Blood

looked better in my head...
having good friends and extremely supportive husband are one of many ways to deal with the fear. today, one of my friends gave me an excellent advice for the importance of practice on drawings or any kind of creative works. "creativity just doesn't come from out of nowhere. you just have to keep up with your hard work until you truly become a creative person.", she said. those words sank in my heart and fueled my passion. before the fire put out, i urgently started to search for the inspiration for today's sketch. there it was, the video about a clown hit by an icecream truck, and disgustingly ripped his stomach apart with his blood flowing out on the ground. well, yeah, it does seem pretty nauseating at this point, but the only thing is that the blood from his stomach was a cascade of many different candies. it was so disturbing, but cute at the same time. how can i pass that up? the sketch is my version of the clown composed of sweet blood. how did you like my experiment?

a glimpse of my brain...

i like to do brainstorming to straighten out what this chaotic thoughts, ideas and feelings in my brain from time to time. most of the time, this method of sorting out doesn't give me the answer that i've been dying to have, but that doesn't concern me at all. through the process, my feelings and thoughts are forcefully gauged out from the little universe of my own brain. on the paper, everything comes out visually clear that what the whole dynamics of my thoughts are. i couldn't even finish the whole thing today, but realize that there are many directions that i can take at this point. sometimes in life, it is important to be astray, facing thousands of arrows sticking and pointing out every directions for you to discover yourself, i believe...

God grew tired of us

this inspirational film documents refugees fled from the horrible attack in Sudan civil war between north and south from 1983 to 2005. the Sudan government at that time had decided to kill off any men from the infant to the elder in the southern part of Sudan due to the religious and cultural differences.those children, especially the boys are named "the lost boys (girls)" after the war tearing them apart from their own mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and any related family. the whole point of this film roughly shows how "the lost boys" escaped from the genocide, walked miles and miles to reach the refugee camp in Kenya, where they were situated over decades, and a few of them grabbed an opportunity to come to America. The story does not just end there, or rather starts from there. through their experiences, struggles and confusion after the first day of landing their feet in America bring us the true sense of meaning to the purpose of life. it's inspirational, and a great reminder to seek for what is each of our purpose on this earth as a human being.

milk-tea-shirt

this girl was high maintenance.

my friend and i were hanging out, and out of nowhere, looking for each other's high schools online. then, we both remembered and shared our good and bad uniform memories in japan. my friend was describing how her uniform was a dress and a shirt, while the common looks were two pieces with a jacket and skirt. that right there, it was enough to catch my attention, but more exciting thing happened when she said about the color of the shirt... it was "milk-tea color." oh, how cute it sounds! "milk-tea" right then and there, i had to draw a sketch based on her "milk-tea" uniform. (it took forever to draw the girl. at least i found out the illustrator is not for sketches...)

Erik Satie

Erik Satie
there are many ways and places to get inspiration from. one of important sources is music for me. when i do something, i always need to play music. i love everything from michael jackson to jazz or bossa nova type stuff. lately, i've been into classic. one song that caught my ears was the song that i've always heard, but wasn't really sure of who composed it. i came to find out it was "Gymnopedie No.1" by Erik Satie. the song makes me feel as if it washed away everything inside out in this world. very inspirational! once i start to design my own clothes, i would love to create something like his music... one day, one day...

there is a hungry commander

i ♥ the style of the scketch
great lines
almost a crime to be this cute
creative jucer
i sometime get this urge to go to a bookstore, which majority of the time, it's a signal from my brain commanding me to satisfy his cravings for different worlds. whenever that happens, everything i see or read becomes delicious meals to my starving commander. after all the meal, he starts to digest all of the inputs, and mold them up to his own thoughts and ideas for me! he will be quiet for a while... i share a couple of pictures with you, which amusingly tickled my senses. enjoy!
